Hi there, I am a doctor and was locuming at a clinic for the past few years. I paid a portion of my billings without HST. Now the clinic has asked me to pay the HST to them and has promised that I will be eligible to claim back all the HST paid to the clinic as an ITC. Is this true? Can I claim the HST I pay for locuming in a clinic back from CRA because it is a cost incurred in the course of a commercial activity?
Hi, Amir. As far as I am aware you cannot receive a rebate (i.e. input tax credit) for the HST paid, because you are providing HST exempt services.
