Looking for advice on filing income for 2023 for a business I worked for that no longer exists. The employees will not be getting T4’s from this business for the 9 months it remained functioning in 2023. The owner apparently has not remit taxes on our pay in the past 3 yrs but I have received a t4 for 2020,2021 and 2022. I’ve had 2021 reassessed with no issues. I have no pay stubs since we got paid through e-transfer. I have been told by an accountant to not even claim the income made because I will be responsible for the deductions that were not paid, and hopefully it won’t come back to me later.. which I don’t know is a good idea. He also said I could put it under “other income” when I file the t4 for my current job but will still have to pay the deductions. I’m just generally confused on what to do because I know nothing about this and so this doesn’t come back to bite me in the future. I don’t want to sweep it under the rug and hope nothing happens. Just seems too risky.
